About me:
My development career has its roots in being a high school script kid by automating math assignments. Now I’m a professional developer.

I’m an autodidact – I’ve taught myself most that I know. After starting a course in UX, I decided a bachelor in IT was a better match and pursued one. Although there is no substitute for intrinsic motivation and a curious mind.

I strongly believe a solid foundation is essential for delivering value. This means my horizon is broad: Through personal projects I've learned about Linux servers and networking, embedded systems and C, and software development.

Through professional experience I've sharpened my backend development skills, picked up frontend development, learned to work in a team and solidified my work ethic.

On a more personal note: I love to be in nature. I enjoy hiking and camping. I like books that make me think and things that challenge my preconceived notions.

From time to time I do volunteering work. I test website accessibility for people with a limitation for Stichting Voorall. Because of my technical expertise, I too help by examining endpoint safety. I've joined Haagse Helpers, through which I like to help people without a (social) network with physical things like gardening or moving.

Responsible for maintaining and extending the lottery- and giveaway hosting PaaS ecosystem. This includes but is not limited to extending the authorization and authentication processes, adding new functionalities and creating robust and properly tested API endpoints. I also do some frontend development.

AWS / Docker / GraphQL / Flask / SQLAlchemy
- Wrote a modular seeding package. Most entities and processes are involved in seeding the database; it requires deep knowledge of the system. It is implemented according to a builder pattern which allows the seeder to return the object at any step. This makes it so that it can mirror any state a user might encounter, whilst maintaining a deep interface;
- Prototyped an engine for a new type of lottery that required performance, reliability and had to comply to legal specifications imposed by governmental authorities. After extensive testing and senior approval, I have implemented the engine and it has been deployed to production;
- Develop in a full stack context;
- Go out of my way to improve the user and developer experience;
- Research and design proof of concepts for ventures that require new technologies. My communicative skills come into play when I write up and compare different options;
- Complete complex tasks independently;
- Keep short lines with other developers and the product owner to optimize value and minimize development- and review time.

I created a web application that records student absence and shows a clean overview for employees. Students are able to log in and explain why they are late. Employees can view student details and get quantitative as well as qualitative data regarding their absence.

I created a web scraper that downloads all data from a Shopify web shop. These snapshots are timestamped and can be compared to other snapshots to measure sales (vintage items can only sell once).

Image download requests are threaded to continue processing while downloading to significantly reduce runtime (from days to hours).

C - Text Based Game

Game to be played in Windows command prompt. Mimics the original Tetris game but doesn’t include a GUI. I didn’t allow myself to view any code snippets and made some tweaks to the game to prove this, such as using a 4x4 shape matrix instead of 3x3, allowing the user to set the field height/width and adding extra shapes.

For a school assignment I led my team through the design, implementation and configuration of a Cisco company network composing of 4 redundant locations in a ring topology and is meant to support about 100 end-points with room for expansion.

Switches are configured to use spanning tree protocol and multilayer switches also use hot standby routing protocol to prevent a SPOF while also load-balancing when both are functional.
